Dr. Kelly Smith

Dr. Kelly J. Smith is a board certified pediatric pulmonologist who is dedicated to the care of children and young adults with pulmonary and sleep disorders. Dr. Smith’s primary passion is providing asthma education to physicians, providers, and patients in the community. He has been integrally involved with the award-winning “Asthma Blow-Out” program with the Northeast Independent School District since its inception.

Dr. Smith, a native of New Braunfels, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Austin College in Sherman, Texas and his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio in 2000. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky and served as Chief Resident of internal medicine and pediatrics. He completed a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and pursued additional training and research in sleep medicine at the Texas Children’s Sleep Center. Dr. Smith has been practicing pediatric pulmonology and sleep medicine in San Antonio since 2007.

His pediatric pulmonary interests include: asthma, chronic cough, noisy breathing, chronic lung disease, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, cystic fibrosis, allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA), interstitial lung disease, vocal cord dysfunction, respiratory complications of neuromuscular and chest wall diseases.

Dr. Smith is a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatric Pulmonology, Sleep Medicine, and Pediatrics. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
